Cape Town – Ian Cockerill, a distinguished figure in the South African Hall of Fame, has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer at Endeavour, a West African mining company with gold operations in Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Senegal.

This is after Endeavour Mining announced the termination of the President and Chief Executive Officer, Sébastien de Montessus due to serious misconduct.

The Board received the findings, deliberating on the appropriate course of action at the time of termination.

In light of these developments, the Board has swiftly appointed Cockerill, the current Deputy Chair of the Board, as the new Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, with effective immediately.

According to miningweekly.com, formerly the deputy chairperson at Endeavour, Cockerill brought a wealth of expertise acquired over four decades in the global natural resources industry, primarily in South Africa.

Following his appointment as CEO and executive director of Endeavour, he is expected to review his current directorships.

In the nine months leading up to September 30, Endeavour’s mines in Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire yielded a combined 792 000 ounces of gold, the report said.

The company aims to achieve a full-year production between 1.06 million and 1.14 million ounces of gold, with an all-in sustaining cost (AISC) ranging from $895/oz to $950/oz.
